Would you like to have this on your site too? In this article we will explain how you can achieve it.

You will be able to moderate all user-submitted content, like comments, and publish it only if you are happy with it. Your users will be able to add posts even without logging in to the admin area. If you want only registered users to be able to add posts, we will show you how to do that too. This kind of submission is very useful when you want users to add their own posts or images to your gallery.

Method One: Publishing Posts with WPForms

This method lets users publish posts right from the site without having to log in to the admin area. You can even accept posts from users without requiring them to register. First you need to install and activate the WPForms plugin, which is a premium plugin. You will need the Pro version of the plugin to get access to this feature. After activation, go to the WPForms > Settings page and enter your license key. You can get this key from the plugin’s website.

After verification you need to go to the WPForms > Addons page. Scroll down to the Post submissions addon and click the Install Addon button.

The plugin will now install a special addon for publishing posts. To start using it, you will need to click the activation button. Now you are ready to create a post submission form. Go to the WPForms > Add New page to open the form builder. First you will need to give your form a name. Under the Select a Template section, click the Blog post submission form template.

WPForms will load a template with all the fields you will need for an ordinary post submission form. You can edit the fields simply by clicking them. You can also add new fields from the panel on the left.

The plugin lets your users choose post categories, add featured images and even custom fields. Once you are happy with the form, click the Settings tab and then the Post Submissions tab.

On this page you can map the form fields to WordPress post fields. In this respect the plugin is very good. By default, all posts submitted by users will be saved as drafts pending review. You can also change the post type and let users submit content to custom post types. Just do not forget to click the save button in the upper right corner of the screen to save your form. Then click the close button to exit the form builder.

Now you can add the form to your site. You can create a new page or edit an existing one. On the editor screen you will notice the Add Form button.

This will bring up a pop-up window where you need to choose the post submission form you have just created.

Click the Add form button and you will notice a shortcode appear in your editor. You can now save or publish this page and then go to the site to see your post submission form in action.

Method Two: Approve User Content with the User Submitted Posts Plugin

Another way to accept user content is to use the User Submitted Posts plugin. After activating it, go to the Settings > User Submitted Posts page to configure the plugin.

In the settings you can choose the fields you want users to see on the post submission page. Or, on the contrary, remove the ones you do not want displayed on the submission page. You can also choose a default author for all submitted posts. We recommend creating a new user and assigning all the content to that user. You can also allow users to upload images and set limits on the number of images and the maximum file size. You can even use user-uploaded pictures as featured images. After fine-tuning the plugin settings, click the save button. Now you are ready to add the content submission form.

Create a new page or edit an existing one where you would like to display the form. In the post editor, simply add this shortcode:

[user-submitted-posts]

Now you can save or publish your page. Go to the site to see the form in action.

Method Three: Let Users Register and Submit Posts in WordPress

WordPress has built-in functionality that lets you manage a site with several authors. You can allow users to register on your site and create content using your admin interface with limited capabilities. First you need to enable user registration on your site. Go to the Settings > General page and tick Anyone can register next to the Membership option. Choose Author or Contributor as the default user role.

Now users can register on your site by visiting the login and registration pages. You can even create custom registration forms. After registration, users will be able to log in to the site and submit posts.

Problems with This Method

Many beginners find this method difficult for a number of different reasons. For example, if you use a two-step login system on your site, many users will find it hard to log in. Many sites also protect the admin area with a password. Letting users register and use your admin area means you will have to share this password with them. Also, registered users with author roles can see other posts that you have on your site. If all of the above worries you, you can use the first and second methods, since they let users submit posts without having to log in to the admin panel.

Our specialization is WordPress website development and maintenance.
